Resumo em outra língua: The use of relative sentences in Brazilian Portuguese presents pattern and non-pattern deviations. Studies from Mollica (1977) and Tarallo (1983) show a progressive replacement from pattern deviation to the non-pattern ones. Kato (1993) associates the non-pattern structures to elements of displacement to the left, known as topic structures. Reche (1998) and Abreu (2013) discuss about the acquisition and use of relative sentences by children and adults. This study proposes a sociolinguistic study of the relative sentences deviations presented at the minute of the public hearings (APs) from the Ouro Preto City Council (CMOP). The main goal is to investigate which relative deviation in co-occurrence is detached from the writing of those minutes. As specific goals it was established: to investigate if the pattern deviation of the relative sentences is being, in fact, replaced, through time, by the non-pattern deviations, as pointed by Tarallo‟s studies; to verify the way in which the authorship of the minutes influences any deviation to appear; and identify some linguistic and extra-linguistic factors that favor the relative sentences occurrences. In order to accomplish this research, 24 minutes from the Public Hearing were selected, hearings that occurred from 2001 to 2012. After inserting those data on the Goldvarb program, 77% of non-pattern relatives and 23% of prepositioned pattern relatives were found. The factors which influenced the most the non-pattern relatives were: linguistics – place and time, the preposition more used on the context was em and the ones that influenced the most the occurrence of this deviation were outras (sobre, com and a), the most found verbs were ter, falar, estar, ser, chegar, trabalhar, ir and precisar. Associated with some of those verbs, the syntactic function of indirect object was the most influenced, despite the most found one was adverbial adjunct. When it comes to social factors, it was considered scholarity – high school and technical education – and the time of service at the Council – to be from 6 to 10 years of service at the CMOP and to have worked for two years at the Minute Section. The most influential factors on the pattern relatives were: linguistics – publications, the most demanded preposition by the context was em and the ones which most impacted the appearing of this deviation were de and em, respectively; the most found verbs were ir, estar, ser, ter and haver. Associated to some of those verbs, it was found as the most influential ones the syntactic functions of adverbial adjunct and nominal complement; social – scholarship, being graduated, especially Languages, being from 11 to 15 years of service at CMOP and to never have worked at the Minute Section or to have worked at the Section for four years at most. The grammar class noun, the presence of specified trait and the less human trait were the ones most found on the two studied deviations. By comparing the audio with the minutes‟ text, it was observed that only one author accomplished corrections and the factors that differ the author from the other ones are, mainly, to be Languages graduated and to work as a teacher. Based on this comparative analysis, it is possible to infer that those two social factors Bof the author influence the appearing of the pattern relative sentences.
