metadata.dc.description.abstracten: | This article examines the meanings and varieties of the writing of history in Brazil during first decades of 19th century. We demonstrate that the arrival of the Portuguese Royal family in 1808 stimulated the development of new enlightened narratives to understand the Brazilian history. These same enlightened narratives will play a central role during the debates concerning Brazilian independence in 1822. |
