This dissertation is the product of a research about the Friedrich Nietzsche‟s philosophy from his book Human, all too human. The work aims to study the question of art, unfolding in an analysis on the art work, culture and genius. The starting point is “From the soul of artists and writers”, from which it follows in direction to other texts of the two volumes of that book of the author. As a result of the investigation, it understands that Nietzsche seeks, in the second stage of his intellectual production, to criticize the German romantic ideal of art, which, according with the philosopher, it was responsible for the art education in Germany during the nineteenth century. The art work is no longer seen as a consequence of inspiration and as having a metaphysical status of production derived from the creative capacity inherent in man. For its part, Nietzsche operates a reassessment of the geniality as an innate condition of the genius, giving an emphasis to the value of learning and commitment to the pursuit of the artistic excellence. Thus, the present study conducts an examination about the genius in German Classicism and Romanticism, as well, in the Nietzsche‟s book The birth of tragedy. The problem of culture is pertinent to see if just the romantics are criticized or every age that intent to establish their version of art as the best and last. The romantic art fostered a culture based on national values, which celebrate the Germanic spirit, avoiding everything that he was foreign. This would have contributed to a cultural weakening and therefore the individual depending on the community. However, the art that emerged in times of rapid industrialization and trade, based on the activity and the unbridled giddiness, would be more superficial and designed to meet the aspirations of the masses. It should be noted that there is always a concern to examine the following process proposed by Nietzschian thought: the art as a replacement for religion, the scientific man as a substitute for artistic man.-
